So I took a bit of a blogging break and now I am here to update you! These past three weeks have been hectic! Let's see, since November 2 (the date of the last blog) I turned 28, we took a babymoon to Vegas, I had parent teacher conferences, tons of drill team practices, a few doctor appointments, our good friends (The Putnams) had their baby boy, my good friend Chrissy got engaged, and tons of other things I am sure.
My birthday was amazing. My husband, family, and friends really made my day special! It was twin day at school and my friend Lauren and I dressed alike. Black leggings, a purple shirt, uggs, and Lauren even added some extra touches to make sure we really looked like twins! My mom made my favorite meal...lasagna, and the entire family came over to celebrate! Matt gave me a coupon book complete with a coupon for gray uggs, and foot and back massages! I received tons of texts, cards, facebook messages, etc. I even received the World's Largest Gummy Bear! Anyone who knows me knows my love of gummy bears...even my students and drill team girls know about this! I cannot wait to take a bite of the world's largest gummy bear, but some people have requested to be present when the eating takes place!

Matt also took me to Vegas for our babymoon! Well actually, we went for the So You Think You Can Dance Tour! The show was amazing!! We also went shopping, went to the wax museum, gambled (not me, but Matt), saw Ka, ate really good food, and by mid morning my feet were swollen everyday! Swollen feet aside, we had a wonderful, much needed, vacation!

Our most recent doctor appointment went great! We went to see our "regular" doctor...her name is Doctor Lebkutchner and I just adore her. I measured at exactly 25 cm...so I am measuring right on track! Carter's heartbeat was 158... we go again to the ultrasound appointment on the 23rd, the same day I have to do the glucose test...blah. Then we will be going to the doctor every two weeks, with ultra sound appointments thrown in every three weeks. We have registered for "baby classes" and Matt hung a curtain in the nursery! Hard to believe it is already Thanksgiving!
Our good friends Jennie and Lance welcomed Hayden Robert Putnam into the world on November 5! He was 7 lbs 13 ounces of pure cuteness! Matt and I went and visited them in the hospital and of course I freaked out just a little. Hayden was in the nicu because both momma and baby had a fever. The nicu was a very sad place to be and I hope to not have to go in there again. Congratulations Putnam family! We cannot wait to have playdates!
Our other good friends Chrissy and Damian are engaged! Damian proposed to Chrissy in DisneyWorld during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party! There were fireworks, the castle in the background, and a gorgeous ring...perfect for Chrissy! Congratulations you two, we cannot wait for the big day!!!

Ok now on to week 26! Carter is moving around like crazy...all day long! I am not complaining though...it is an awesome feeling! He should/could weigh about 2 lbs right now and be around 9 inches long (crown to rump). Research says that as the blood vessels in the lungs began last week, the air sacs in the lungs begin this week. The lungs begin to secrete surfactant which covers the inner lining of the air sacs which then allows the lungs to expand normally during breathing. Besides the active lung growth, the brain kicks in with brain wave activity for the visual and auditory systems. Carter's soaking up my antibodies, getting his immune system ready for life outside the womb. Eyes are forming, and he'll soon be practicing the blink...perfect for batting those freshly grown lashes. As with me, my uterus is about 2 1/2 inches above your belly button. I also may begin experiencing "Braxton Hicks" Contractions. These are normal, usually painless or feel similar to menstrual cramps and happen at irregular intervals. They are my body's way of practicing for the real thing and help to tone up my uterus for the tough job of labor. Enjoy my week 24 and 26 belly pictures below...excuse week 25, we were having too much fun in Vegas and simply forgot to take them!
