Week 38

13 days left until our due date. Will I make it all 13 days? Will I be late? I gotta tell you, I don't like not knowing when Carter will make his debut. I am starting to become very impatient. Maybe its uncomfyness. Maybe is going to the bathroom every ten minutes...or maybe its the fact that I am just dying to meet little Carter and love on him! I can tell you one thing, Matt is about to go crazy. He is so excited to be a dad that he can hardly contain himself! We have our bags packed, car seat installed, house sorta cleaned...and now we just wait! Oh yeah...we also have ourselves a nice new family car...and no its not a mini van!!!

At our last appointment (on Thursday) I measured at 38 weeks (2 days early) and Carter's heartbeat was perfect! We go in again Wednesday afternoon and at this appointment I will be checked to see if I have dilated at all!! Should be an interesting appointment!

At 38 weeks, Carter could be gaining an ounce a day now. His intestines are accumulating lots of meconium (baby's first bowel movement). The circumference of his head and abdomen are about the same size and he could be sporting about an inch of hair! The last bits of vernix caseosa (the white goo keeping baby's skin moist) and lanugo (downy hair) are slowly shedding into the amniotic fluid. I have been feeling more and more contractions, but they aren't consistent yet. I will let you know how Wednesday's appointment goes!
